What's the real efficiency gain of AI in your workflow

Hello Bioinformatics lovers,

Tommy here. Another issue of the chatomics newsletter.

Honest question: What's the real efficiency gain of AI in your workflow?

Even for coding, it is more likely 2x (or less) my efficiency rather than 10x.

For data analysis, now I can do much faster experiments, but need more time to verify the logic and results.

Biology domain knowledge is your edge.

For software engineering, I can quickly vibe code an application but probably need a real software engineer to make it production level.

I vibe-coded a web app, and it kept messing up the login and authentication logic and over 40 hours was lost.

I am not a software engineer, I do not know much on the front-end or back-end.

Security and scaling need real expertise too.

AI definitely is changing my way of working.

You can learn things quickly.

You can prototype much faster.

But, What's your real efficiency gain?

Today's newsletter is a little late. I am going to do a presentation at 11 am EST to Nigeria students on AI and Bioinformatics.

Happy Learning!
